About this event

This intimate walking tour with Kaylene and Sarah is at capacity. Please continue to sign up to the waitlist and we'll be in touch if any more tickets become available.

The first burial ground for the Swan River Colony was established in what is now East Perth. As the population grew so did the number of cemeteries, one of which was exclusively for the Chinese community.

Join Kaylene Poon from the Chung Wah Association and Sarah Murphy from the National Trust of Western Australia on Quingming or ‘Tomb Sweeping Day’, the traditional Chinese festival to honour ancestors.

Together they will share stories of East Perth Cemeteries and the Chinese in Perth in the colonial period.

Accessibility

The grounds of East Perth Cemeteries are rough and uneven, this is a walking tour with no access to seating and not recommended to people with limited mobility. Please take this into consideration when booking your ticket.
